Our children live in an environment pulled in all directions; and this makes it hard for the youth to determine his/her identity, and their role in the society where they happen to live.
We endeavor in the present Course:
- To have the youngster realize the concept of citizenship, belonging, and identity, through responding to target-designed story about a certain village.
- The young boy/girl get acquainted, through experiential learning, with diversity and debate, in society; respecting the different opinion, and the importance of coexistence.
- The youth are introduced to the principles of rights and duties and shura-democracy, in an exciting interactive way, well connected to their life, experiences, and observation.
- The youth are trained to notice where such notions exist in actual life, and where they are absent, and to notice the consequences of both situations, at various levels.
- The youth begins to perceive the importance of his/her role and impact within the domain of shura-democracy; and that is reflected in the public interest.
- The youth is made to realize that, before democracy is seen as a social requirement, it must be a trait, settled in the soul, and a personal practice.
- The youth are introduced to the principle of justice, and adopting justice in our daily lives; and the consequences when this is absent from life; and also that obedience is due as long as it is in harmony with what is right and good.
We hope, by the end of this Course that the youth is prouder of his/her identity and belonging, more conscious of his/her role as a good, responsible citizen, in the light of what our Prophet, peace be upon him, taught us: “Each one of you is a shepherd, and each shepherd is responsible for his/her herd.”
