Let’s pray the High and All-Able Lord to grant that our children keep upholding the core of faith and doing good deeds.
With this in mind, we have chosen for this axis the main tenets of faith and conceptions: viewing that in a practical, interactive way.
And we have endeavored to translate these basic concepts into a code of behavior and purification of the soul, and into a lifestyle – keeping as far as possible from abstract aspects.
In this axis:
The youth will come to recognize the general sense of ‘tawhid’ in the light of ‘Show us the straight way’ (the Qur’an, 1:6); so that his/her pivotal purpose and the basis of his/her behavior is to win God’s pleasure; that he/she is a servant only of God, no one else; and so that this is displayed in his/her view of the world, in his value system, his thinking system, in the guidance of his/her behavior, and his/her striving for success in this world and the Hereafter.
He/she learns the love of God and His Apostle, in addition to the traits of those who love God and His Apostle, as illustrated in the Verse of the Qur’an: “On their faces are their marks, being the traces of this prostration;” (48:29).
The rising youth learns in a practical way that he/she is entrusted to be ‘khalifah’, a viceroy, responsible for developing the earth and the universe – not a possessor of the universe, but capable of developing it, subjugating its potentials and its things for what is good: for what is better and more durable.
He/she is acquainted with the concept of entrusting; and the consequences and manifestations of accepting the trust, and what it entails.
That religion supports his/her freedom, by teaching him/her how to use his/her freedom wisely.
We endeavor, through this Axis, to realize harmony between the revealed text and what one learns from the concrete world; the revealed Verses of God, and God’s wonderous creation in both the human life and the world.
He/she learn the crucial place of faith on the Last Day: how that plays a pivotal role in guiding their behaviors; that each and every human is accountable, and will have to stand for a review of his/her behavior in the world, both good and bad deeds.
We do our best to inculcate these concepts and values, though quite profound, in a simple way, adapted to the particular age-group; we are careful to give students real-life examples, from the experience of students: then we ask how those concepts can apply to their life, in an interactive way, always shunning dictating precepts, rote learning, and preaching. At the same time, we have families share in the educational process, whenever possible, in the intervals between sessions, so that the family is part and parcel of the rejuvenation process.
